PhD at Imperial College
Students interested in joining the group for their PhD are encouraged to reach out to discuss potential projects. Every year, a number of interesting PhD projects are available. A PhD may be co-supervised by a collaborator at Imperial or outside. Our group is generally interested in the immunological mechanisms underlying human disease with a particular focus in autoimmune and infectious diseases. To get an idea of the type of research done in the group, perusing through the group's publications is a good idea.
We strongly encourage students to get in touch as early as possible (e.g. a year ahead of the envisaged starting date) to discuss potential PhD scholarship and grant applications (for instance through the MS Society or Diabetes UK PhD scholarships schemes). Applications for PhD scholarship schemes have annual deadlines from November to January for start in the following Autumn.
Funded PhD opportunities are available via a number of funding schemes including:
the MRC Doctoral Training Programme at the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial (for home and international students)
the President's PhD scholarships at Imperial (for home students)
the Wellcome Trust 4i programme at the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial (for clinicians)
the CSC Imperial scholarships (only for chinese citizens)
